The American Civil War was a depressing and stress filled time for Henry County residents as their husbands, fathers, sons, and friends met the call of President Lincoln and went off to serve. Christmas proved to be a time for reflection, refocus, and family. Many of our modern traditions actually originate from the mid-late 1800s. Learn about Christmas during the Civil War, view authentic artifacts, and find a common bond with those around you and our ancestors during the most magical time of the year.
